COME TO OUR SESSIONS:

Optimizing for Trust in News

Thursday, October 5 | 2-3pm Marriott Ballroom Salon 3 | #trustjourno

In this lively chat, De Correspondent Publisher Ernst-Jan Pfauth and Hearken Founder and CEO Jennifer Brandel will tackle one of the most important challenges for journalism today: building a news organization that restores trust in journalism. We’ll get a close look at two innovative -- and very different -- models for engaging readers in the news-making process. Plus, we’ll discuss how optimizing for trust in news can inspire your community to become paying members. We’ll have some fresh data and insights to share, so be ready for an action-packed talk!

This session is designed for:

  • Reporters, editors, audience engagement/development teams, and anyone interested in creating a deeper relationship with their community; our conversation will be relevant to newsrooms of all sizes
  • Newsroom leaders and executives seeking inspiration on new models for newsgathering that lead to increased revenue

Make It and Take It Engagement Strategy Workshop

Friday, October 6 | 3:30 - 4:30pm Delaware Suite | #ONA17engagement

Do you have a project (or beat) that you want to engage your audience around? This workshop takes you through the steps of building a plan to reach the people you want to reach. Walk in with an idea, walk out with a written plan for achieving that goal (and an accountability buddy to help you stick to it). This will be an interactive session during which you’ll rotate through several mini-exercises.

This session is designed for:

  • Anyone in a newsroom interested in engaging their audience around a project, beat or vertical
  • Audience engagement and social team members who are looking for inspiration or a refresh on building out an engagement strategy
